Terms and conditions

 

Dgroups is a community platform supporting online collaboration. It is provided and managed by the Dgroups Foundation, registered in the Netherlands. Day to day coordination and supervision is provided by the Dgroups Board, a group of people representing the member organisations of Dgroups. The Board is elected by the Council of members. The regulations which govern Dgroups members can be found on the Dgroups wiki.

 

This document describes the Terms under which individuals and organisations use the platform. By joining the platform users are deemed to have accepted these terms of use. 

 

Liability for Content and Service

Any opinions, findings, or conclusions presented within the Dgroups site are solely those of the authors and not of the Dgroups Foundation or the technical host. Dgroups members are accountable for the responsible use by the users of the groups they created. The Foundation, its members and members' employees and those contributing information to the Web site shall not be responsible for damages of any kind arising from use of the material on the Dgroups web site and do not warrant in any way its contents or its availability at any given time. The Web site, its contents and its functionalities are provided "as is", without any implied warranty or support. 


 

 

Contributions

Dgroups provides a space for the discussion of issues and access to various communications facilities. It embraces the UN Global Compact core values in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption. Dgroups recognize its services is used to support these values.

 

As a Dgroups user, you agree:

 

  1. to communicate in a manner that is respectful of other users and related to issues relevant to international development; 
  2. not to cause the Dgroups Foundation to be threatened in law as a result of any violation of local, state, national, or international law or regulation; 
  3. not to communicate anything that is defamatory, unlawful, obscene, or threatening;
  4. not to upload or attach files where it would be unlawful to do so or which are corrupt, contain viruses, or would otherwise be technically harmful;
  5. where appropriate, to include proper notice of ownership and rights attached to material you provide;
  6. not to advertise, attempt to sell goods, or distribute contests, chain letters, or surveys intended for commercial gain through this Web site. 

 

The Dgroups Foundation or the technical host will remove any material that offends these terms and may prohibit the use of the site by any intended User after previous consultation with the related member organisation.

 

External Links

Dgroups contains links to other web sites for the convenience of the User and in accordance with these Terms of Use. These sites are not controlled by the Dgroups Foundation or its members, therefore the Foundation or its members are not responsible for their contents.

 

Legal Jurisdiction 

This Agreement governing the use of this Web site by the User will be interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands.

 

Copyright and usage of content

Unless otherwise stated, material contributed to Dgroups is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike license.  This might not always apply to documents and other contents uploaded on the site by users, or where a proper notice of ownership and rights is included. Users are responsible for providing this information to the material about they contribute.

 

Privacy statement

The Dgroups Foundation is committed to ensuring the privacy of all Dgroups users.

 

By registering on Dgroups, users agree to provide certain personal information (such as name, address, phone number or e-mail address) and they decide how much of this information is available to other registered and non-registered users.

 

The information collected and provided by the users will be retained by Dgroups and its technical host in a secure environment, will be kept confidential, and will only be used for its intended purposes.  It will not be sold or rented nor will it be shared with third parties unless Dgroups has users' permission, or is required to disclose the information by law. 

 

According to the specific settings of each group, personal information provided by users might be available to the other users of the same group. Group administrators have access to the content and information posted in each sub-group created under the group they administer.

 

A selected number of trusted administrators (one for each member organisations) have access to the content and information posted in each group created under the main 'Group' node. They do not violate the privacy and by any means do not make use of the information contained in the groups they are not involved in.

 

Dgroups also collects anonymous logs during users visits to create aggregated statistics on users' internet service provider, operating system, the length of user visits and user requests.

 

The practices outlined in this Privacy Statement are specific to this Web site. The sites of other organizations to which this Web site provides links may have different practices and Users are encouraged to review the policies of those Web sites when visiting them.

 

The Dgroups Foundation reserves the right to make changes to this Privacy Statement when needed. The Board of the Dgroups Foundation will properly communicate these changes to members and users.
